Steve Dininno graduated with honors from the School of Visual Arts in 1982, and immediately set out to pursue freelance assignments. One of America's most decorated newspapers, Newsday, began hiring Dininno on a regular basis. Although most of these assignments were in black and white, Dininno's ability to interpret cerebral subject matter and conceive powerful, thought-provoking visual solutions never failed to impress the assigning editors/art directors. As Dininno's presence expanded throughout the newspaper and magazine markets, he began to break into the worlds of advertising, book publishing, CDs and licensed cards. Demand for his style grew, earning him work on annual reports, brochures, posters and direct mail pieces. A partial list of his prestigious clients includes: Coca Cola, EMI Music Publishing, Bayer Pharmaceuticals, T. Rowe Price, Jaguar, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Kinney Shoes, Simon & Schuster, Panasonic, Prudential, AT&T, Citibank and Dupont. Steve is a prominent presence in the world of stock imagery with hundreds of images available thru Folioplanet and Images.com. Whether painted or digital, Dininno's illustrations exhibit stunningly luminous, impressionistic colors, as well as a conceptual ability that is among the finest in his field. He has been lauded by hundreds of designers, editors and art directors as one of the nicest, funniest and most reliable people they have ever dealt with over the years. Dininno is also a widely exhibited painter and printmaker, whose work is included in many private and corporate collections. Numerous institutions have commissioned him to create limited-edition lithographs and he has won many awards for his printmaking excellence. Dininno has taught drawing and illustration at Parson's School of Design, and has written about his work in Artist's Magazine. He is a featured illustrator and interviewee in the publication; "Exploring Illustration" by Michael Fleishman, as well as "The Big Book of Illustration Ideas" by Roger Walton. In 2008, Steve launched (with uber-talented illustrator Warren Gebert) Knucklepie Studio, which is a completely unique animation studio that expands Steve's conceptual expertise from static to moving imagery. 2008 also saw Steve continue his role as the sole illustrator of the massive global campaign launched by SmartFresh which won the National First Place honors in the Best of NAMA Awards. Dininno entered his fourth year as the sole illustrator of the Cognizanti global print campaign. Dininno works out of his home in Marietta, GA, where he resides with his wife, illustrator and web designer Astrid Dininno, and their cats: Layla, Garbo, Cali and Penelope.
